
According to a survey by the Serbian newspaper Politika, 44% of the Serbian population wishes to join the EU, while 61% of Serbs are in favor of an “alliance with Russia.”
Recently, the Serbian president, Tomislav Nikolic, said that the rapprochement with the EU remained the priority of the country’s foreign policy. According to him, Serbia, a candidate for EU membership, could increase the quality of life of its citizens, ensure the protection of its sovereignty and modernize its armed forces.
